Aciphex Side Effects, Information and Aciphex Tidbits
What is Aciphex?
Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is sold as Aciphex, and is used as an antiulcer drug. Aciphex is generally used to help the healing process of many types of ulcers including gartic, peptic and duodinal ulcers. Aciphex is also used for the healing and maintenance of the healing of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Aciphex is often used for the treatment of daytime and nighttime heartburn associated with GERD.
Rabeprazole has also been used as an antibiotic to eradicate Helicobactor Pylori, which will reduce the risk of duodinal ulcer recurrance. It can also be used in the long-term treatment of conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison, where excessive stomach acid is produced. Aciphex works by binding to the proton pumps in the stomach, thus causing the stomach to produce less acid. This in turn promotes healing of the errosive damage done to the esophogus related with GERD and multiple types of ulcers.
